Electrical Section

The Electrical Branch of the Public Works Department (PWD) of Negeri Sembilan is based in Taman England, Seremban. It is a Federal establishment but administratively comes under the Director of PWD Negeri Sembilan. Except for certain policies and administrative guidelines, the Electrical Branch is under Director of Electrical Branch, PWD Headquarters Kuala Lumpur.

This division is headed by a senior engineer is sub-divided into 2 zones which covers the seven (7) districts of Negeri Sembilan. Each zone is headed by an electrical engineer. In each district the electrical unit is handled by an electrical technician. This branch has a total of 80 staffs.

The Electrical Branch is responsible for all electrical works handled by the PWD Negeri Sembilan. One of the major roles shouldered by this division is to ensure that the electrical installation comply to the various international and local standards and legislation such as:

I.E.E. Regulations ;
Code of Practice by B.S.I./I.E.C./I.E.S./C.I.E.;
S.I..R.I.M.;
Department of Electricity and Gas Supply;
Local Supply Authority;
Fire Department;
Electricity Supply Act, etc...

The Electrical Branch is involved in the following engineering activities mainly;

designing the electrical services for buildings, roads, etc..
tender and contract management of the above;
maintaining all electrical installation in Federal and State Buildings.

After the privatisation of the Jabatan Telekom Malaysia and Lembaga Letrik Negara, Electrical Branch has taken over most of the work formerly handled by the two departments.

With the introduction of the Hotline Service by PWD Negeri Sembilan in 1994, the Electrical Branch has provided an on-call service after office hours and over the weekends. So far this division had been receiving complaints mainly of power failure and breakdown of traffic light systems. Apart from attending to such complaints, this division also provides standby service for official functions.
