Road Section

The Road Section of JKR NS is one of the several sections established
in the rganisation of JKR Negeri Sembilan. It has become the most important
section in JKR Negeri Sembilan.The objectives and functions of the Road
Section are as follows:
- Ensuring all State and Federal road and bridge projects under the five
year Malaysia Plan being implemented according to the schedule, design
and with quality.
- Ensuring all State and Federal roads and bridges in the state are well
maintained with emphasis on safety and conveniences to the road user and
pedestrians.
- Ensuring that all commends and advise to the state with regards to
road and infrastructure planning and road side development are made based
on expert engineering input.
The JKR Negeri Sembilan road section is headed by an Assistant
Director of Road and assisted by another 3 road engineers and several technical
officers. In the effort to achieve the objectives, this section undertakes
;
- The planning, designing, tendering procurement and monitoring of road
and bridge projects.
- The planning, supervising and monitoring maintenance of roads and bridges.
- The planning and recommending the states on road side development.
- The monitoring and collection of road information system in the state.
Roads in Negeri Sembilan
Negeri Sembilan is divided into 7 districts namely Seremban, Kuala
Pilah, Jempol, Tampin, Port Dickson, Jelebu and Rembau. There are 2 catergories
of roads in the state namely The State Road and the Federal Roads. In Negeri
Sembilan there are 3285 kilometers of state road of which 930 km are main
state trunk road which are maintained by the Public works department or
JKR Negeri Sembilan. There are 1289 kilometers of federal roads in
the state and are totally maintained by JKR. In ensuring the development
projects and roads & bridges maintenance works are carried out, the
organisation of the road section is extended and established at all the
seven district levels.
