What is PWD Malaysia?
PWD Malaysia is an acronym for Public Works Department Malaysia. But we are fondly known as JKR or Jabatan Kerja Raya. PWD acts as the technical advisor to the Government which support the country’s construction sector. PWD is a large department with staff that comes from many disciplines - civil engineering, architecture, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and quantity surveyor.
What does PWD provide?
PWD is responsible for the planning, designing and construction of infrastructure projects in the country. We play the role as the implementing agency and technical consultant to the government. The main services that rendered by us are technical consulting service, project management service and maintenance management service which support the country’s construction sector mainly in infrastructure works.
How is PWD organized?
PWD consists of 3 main sectors and supports by 14 branches.

PWD is lead by our Director General, Dato' Prof Ir. Dr. Wahid Bin Omar and supported by staff that comes from many disciplines - civil engineering, architecture, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and quantity surveying.

How can I get the new policies or instructions issued by PWD?
Periodically or when the situation warrants it, our Director General will issue instruction or new policies on project management and constructions. We call this Arahan KPKR. What you will get is the collection of all the instructions issued by the current and previous director generals. These instructions are meant for the contractors and consultants that handle our projects.
Where can I get the Schedule of Rates for construction work?
From time to time we will publish and update the Schedule of Rates.
How can I join PWD?
If you are interested to become a PWD staff, please fill in Borang SPA 8 “i” in http://www.spa.gov.my or contact Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Awam (SPA) for more details.
Where can I get the latest traffic info?
We will provide the traffic information that will cover closed roads, road diversions, and newly roads. But not for now.
Where can I get the latest updates about the slopes failure and floods in our country?
Get them from our Laman Bencana Alam. Some of the information you can find are the latest news on disasters, status of the disasters, road closures due to disasters, and alternatives routes to get around the disaster.
Another site that is 'closely related' to the natural disaster is the Malaysian Meteological Service Department (Jabatan Perkhidmatan Kajicuaca Malaysia.)
