Jabatan Kerja Raya Malaysia (JKR) had recently participated in The Executive Short Program “Emerging Technologies in a Fast Paced Digital World” held at Ecole Nationale Superieure des Mines de Paris, France from 18 to 22 September 2023. Ir. Dr. Sherliza binti Zaini Sooria, the Director of the Innovation, Engineering Research and Development Division of the JKR Centre of Excellence for Engineering and Technology (CREaTE) had been selected by the Public Service Department to attend the five-day short course jointly organized by the Public Service Department, the Malaysia Multimedia University (MMU), and PSL Mines, Paris.
The main objective of the Executive Short Course “Emerging Technologies in a Fast Paced Digital World” was to elevate participant’s knowledge and skills in the fourth and fifth industrial revolution (IR 4.0 and IR 5.0) technologies, such as in artificial intelligence, internet of things, and metaverse; and understand the power of data science in order to adapt to the ever evolving market dynamics and client’s changing demands. The workshop based course featured exchange of knowledge and interaction with recognized experts from the industry players and the government of France, industry visits and use cases which have transformed business models and enhanced service delivery systems in both the government and private sectors. Throughout the course, emphasis has been given to planning strategies through the application of IR 4.0 and IR 5.0 technologies in achieving the aims set out in the United Nation’s Sustainability Development Goals 2030.
The experience gained from workshops and the insights drawn from real-world examples from industry visits and into cutting edge technologies has managed to enhance digital leadership, and would enable skillful and educated decision making pertaining to the application of on-demand technologies in the department as a strategy to improve the service delivery system and digital customer experience.
