Maintenance of roads throughout the country dealt by the Branch Road. Execution of the maintenance program involves the following activities:

  • Pavement Management System (for policies, Pavement Systems and Technology)
  • Slope Management
  • Mechanical Asset Management

We preserve a network of federal roads, which total length of 15,746.10 km - based on 2003 statistics.

Responsibility for managing and supervising the privatization of road maintenance contracts in the federal Peninsular Malaysia zonal level have been acquiesced to the three units:

  • UPPJ Northern Territory. This zone takes in Perlis, Kedah, Penang and Perak. It comprises roads adding up 2,603 km long. The contractor is in charge is Belati Wangsa

Forecasting to protect and conserve slopes along federal roads is carried out using computer software known as Slope Priority Ranking System (SPRS). Periodic assessments of high risk slants are conducted by the District Officer and the data acquired through analysis will be recorded into the system. This permits planning for precautionary procedures to upgrade slope steadiness on the safety of road users more efficiently.

We act as advisors to the maintenance of mechanical equipment along the federal road network, such as weight bridge stations.
Through the inspections will be entered into the system. This allows planning for preventive measures to improve slope stability on the safety of road users.
