HANDOVER CEREMONY KOMPLEKS DEWAN BEDAH, ICU DAN WAD TAMBAHAN HOSPITAL KUALA LUMPUR (DESIGN & BUILD)

MONDAY, 25^th SEPTEMBER 2023 – Handover Ceremony of Kompleks Dewan Bedah, Icu Dan Wad Tambahan Hospital Kuala Lumpur was held at the Urology & Nephrology Institute Building (Block B), Kuala Lumpur Hospital on 25^th September 2023 at 10.00 am.

The handover of the Project was completed through the signing ceremony of the Project Handover and Acceptance Certificate by Ir. Suzzana binti Punari, Project Director, Pasukan Projek Khas 1 and Tuan Hj. Zairi bin Mat Ali, Senior Division Secretary, Development Division, Ministry of Health Malaysia witnessed by Dato' Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi, Minister of Public Works and Dr. Zaliha Mustafa, Minister of Health.

The ceremony continued with the handing over of key replica by Tuan Hj. Mohamad Akmal Bin Dato' Johari, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Johawaki Construction Sdn. Bhd. as the contractor of this project to the Minister of Public Works and then to the Minister of Health as a symbolic handover of the building.

The ceremony was also attended by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Public Works, Datuk Seri Hj. Hasnol Zam Zam Bin Hj. Ahmad, Director General of Public Works Malaysia, Datuk Ir. Ahmad Redza bin Ghulam Rasool, Dato' Dr. Asmayani Binti Khalib Deputy Director General of Health Malaysia (Medicine) as well as representatives from the Ministry of Public Works, Public Works of Department (PWD), Ministry of Health Malaysia, Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) and the Contractor Team Johawaki Construction Sdn Bhd.

This project started on 02^nd February 2018 and was completed on 04^th August 2023, which is 3 days earlier than the current completion date which was implemented by Design and Build under the supervision of Special Project Team 1, PWD Malaysia. The overall project cost of RM171 million was completed with a cost saving of RM 9.0 Million.

Congratulations to the contractor who has successfully completed this project and handed it over to the client. It is expected that the contractor will be able to maintain the momentum to continue the responsibility for the 24 months of the defect liability period.

This project is part of the Hoapital Kuala Lumpur redevelopment project which involves the demolition of the old building and the rebuilding of the new Urology Operating Room Complex which is connected to Block A of the Institute of Urology and Nephrology. This new 7-storey building is also equipped with Hemodialysis Unit, Urology and Nephrology Intensive Care Unit, High Dependency Ward and General Ward which placed a total of 252 beds.

In addition, the 133metres elevated path connected the Main Building HKL to the Kompleks Pakar dan Rawatan Harian HKL for carrying patients and the work of upgrading the Electric Substation 10 (PE 10) is also carried out within the scope of the construction.

This project has been handed over by successfully acquiring the 3 in 1 criteria;

1. Certificate Practical Completion (CPC)
2. As built Drawing
3. Statement of Final Account (SOFA)

With some other achievements:

6. Early completion 3 days from current completion date.
7. Project Cost Savings of RM 9 million from the original cost of the contract.
8. Achieved a score of 79 percent in the assessment of the Quality Assessment System in Construction (Qlassic).
9. 4-star accreditation for the Safety and Health Assessment System in Construction (SHASSIC); and
10. 1,000,000 man/hours without Lost Time Injury (LTI).

As a Technical agency that supervises Government projects, PWD Malaysia has implemented holistic supervision through the Control and Reporting System (SKALA), the Visual Project Monitoring System (i-Supervision) and the Integrated Management System (SPB) of PWD that complies with the standards of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) related in the construction sector.
