The JKR BIM Day program, jointly organized by the Integrated Asset Planning Branch (CPAB) and the Pertubuhan BIM Malaysia, was successfully held on October 25, 2023, at the Sime Darby Convention Centre in Kuala Lumpur. The event, inaugurated by the Director-General of Public Works, YBhg. Datuk Ir Ahmad Redza bin Ghulam Rasool, received an enthusiastic response and successfully attracted the participation of approximately 700 attendees, including JKR officials, government agencies, industry players, and academic members.
Seventeen (17) speakers delivered presentations in the Knowledge Arena and Project Showcase, including Ronan Collins from HSS Engineers, who delivered the keynote address. Additionally, 24 companies showcased the latest BIM and 4IR (Fourth Industrial Revolution) technologies in the exhibition and Technology Update area.
Two (2) books were also launched during this program: "Building Better with BIM," a collaborative effort between JKR and USM, and "JKR BIM Report RMK11," produced by the CPAB BIM Unit. The program was further enriched with the presentation of the JKR BIM Awards to the winners, which included JKR officials, industry players, and students from higher education institutions.
The program concluded with a forum titled "The Evolution of Traditional Roles in Digital Transformation," featuring four (4) experienced panels in the field of BIM and 4IR technology. It is expected that this program will enhance the readiness of all stakeholders to successfully implement BIM in JKR projects and drive the digital transformation of the construction industry at the national level.
